Program evaluation

An independent evaluation of the Science, Tobacco & You curriculum resource has been conducted. This page provides youwith links to the formative evaluations of the seven (7) phases of the study.

T.D. Weiden Consulting of Fort Myers is completing the study. Weiden was under contract by the Office of Tobacco Control at both the University of Miami School of Medicine and the Florida Department of Health.

Summary Evaluation- June, 2001 (40 KB)

Phase I- Classroom Integration (282 KB)
Results are from teacher surveys and interviews and focus on how the program was integrated into the classroom, how teachers use the program's support activities, the perceived knowledge gains by students, and the teacher's assessment of the program.

Phase II- Student Gains (4,660 KB)
In this phase students were surveyed. It focuses on how the program changed student beliefs, knowledge, attitudes, behaviors and intentions.

Phase III- Student Response (176 KB)
Direct observations were used to observe how students respond to the program.
